If an agreement between the parties is lacking, the principal is not obligated to pay the architect (planner) advance fees, fee instalment payments or guarantees. The parties therefore often reach agreements for the payment of advances, instalments or guarantee arrangements:
Fee advanced payments
- The planner bills before he performs services
- The principal pays with reservations for the final settlement and (contractual) reclaiming rights
Fee on-account instalments (also: advanced or partial payments)
- The planner bills before he has completed the services
- The principal pays with reservations for the final settlement and (contractual) reclaiming rights
Security or guarantee
- The planner demands the payments of a security or guarantee
